3) When Captain Black was talking to his cohorts and he said this quote it goes with his thoughts of true Patriotism or the loyalty of people to their country. He believed that the more loyalty papers signed the more loyal a person was. He gave the example of why people make young children pledge allegiance before they truly know what they are doing.
4) When Yossarian said this quote to Clevinger he meant that it is possible to be killed in the line of duty by anyone. Saying this lead me to believe that an enemy is one that harms you and killing a person is the utmost harmful. So, it is false because everyone isn't out to get just one person, but the problem in life is, everyone for themselves and when a person looks out for themselves they are mostly kept from the harm of others.
5) When Colonel Cathcart addressed Colonel Korn with this quote he seemed to be sarcastic because Yossarian didn't drop his bombs the first time and went around twice. So, he wanted to make Yossarian look like a fool because of his act. They decided to make him captain because he was "brave" enough to go around the target twice. The sense of guilt was Yossarian had messed up so he was already guilty now he had the Colonel's rubbing it in his face, for trying to do his duty.

Catch Twenty Two

A. The difference between the two conversations is that when Yossari and Orr was talking Yossari was more sarcastic and none caring about the situation. His only problem was that he didnt want to go to war, so he just told the people his liver was hurting. But Clevenger seemed to care more about his situation. The problems were not solved in either situations because they were all worried about their own problems. He switches role and ask question when he's talking to different people. He thinks that they are insane and they think he is jehovas witness.


C. When he makes that statement, he's saying that if the guy go to the other wards that he will become insane and if he comes back to that ward being insane that they will become insane also, because being insane is contagious.

D. I agree because he thinks that every one is a Jehovah. Thinking that everyone is a Jehovah, he developes characteristics of a Jehovah, which is what he blaim other people of being. He says one thing one minute and switches his thoughts another minute.

Understanding the Terms

Paradox.
Paradox in my own word means a statement which is some ones opinion that is true but will bring up an arguement. It's like making a comment that's true but not every one agrees. It's so commonly brung upon in arguement that it's then questioned as a false statement.

Catch22

This came about from a book titled "Catch22" by Joseph Heller. To me Catch22 means basically.. Suprise, because no matter what you do it will not be the outcome that you were expecting. It's like working so hard to achieve this one goal, but it never seems to come to you.

For example: To get off of work John had to wash all the dishes. The sink is never empty. So John never gets to go home.
